Life in Stafford, Texas, is anything but dull, although there is certainly plenty of spaces to enjoy if you’re looking to simply relax on the weekend. The warm summers and mild winters allow visitors and residents to enjoy outdoor spaces year-round, while the city itself offers lots of area attractions perfect for everyone in the family.
What to See and Do in Stafford
There are over 35 acres of parks in the city of Stafford, offering lots of space for the kids to play and for the whole family to enjoy a picnic lunch. Stafford City Park offers baseball and soccer fields as well as playground equipment and basketball courts. Gordon Fountain Lake Park also provides playground equipment and picnic tables as well as a lighted jogging trail and small lake to enjoy!
Vaccaro Manor Park also offers a smaller jogging trial as well as sidewalks and playground equipment. For something a bit more eye-catching, try The Margaret Havens Historical Memorial Garden, next to Stafford City Hall. This garden offers lots of roses, a fountain, and benches to relax, as well as space for wedding ceremonies!
To get even more exercise, consider an annual pool pass for the city pool in the Stafford Municipal Complex. If you’d prefer to relax and watch a show, The Stafford Centre Performing Arts Theatre and Convention Centre offers a performing arts theater with seating for over 1000! The complex also has some 25,000 square feet perfect for meetings, banquets, and business expositions.
Life in Stafford
Because Stafford offers so much to see and do, it’s no wonder that the city has drawn a mixture of residents over the years. As of the 2010 census, the racial makeup of the city was just over 36% white, 27% African American, and almost 26% Hispanic.
The census also revealed that 33% of households in Stafford had children age 18 or younger, making the city an excellent place to raise a family since children will obviously never be without friends their age! Some 45% of households were married couples while almost 28% were persons living alone, making the city a great place for both couples and singles!
The climate of Stafford also makes it an excellent place to live, as temperatures rarely drop below 32 degrees or rise above 98 degrees Fahrenheit. You can enjoy outdoor activities virtually any day of the year when you live in Stafford, Texas!
The city’s close proximity to nearby Houston also makes Stafford a great place to live and raise a family. Houston is the most populous city in Texas and offers a wealth of attractions, including the Houston Astros baseball team, the Houston Rockets basketball team, and the Houston Texans football team! Houston also has a fine arts museum, a theater district, its own Chinatown and Mahatma Gandhi district, a zoo and several public parks!
