Stafford Police Department

Patrol Division

The mission of the Stafford Police Department Patrol Division is to protect the lives and property of all citizens. The Division dedicates its personnel and material resources to maintaining public order and safeguarding the individual and constitutional rights of all persons.

The Patrol Division is the most visible unit within the Department. This Division consists of 24 officers and supervisors. This Division is the first responder to most calls for police service.

This Division has, in the past, been almost entirely reactive in nature. However, within the last three years the Division has begun the transition to Community Oriented Policing by taking a proactive approach to involve citizens in developing solutions to recurring crime problems. Using the principles of Problem Oriented Policing, officers and the public have begun to make an impact on these crime problems.

Other assignments within this Division include assisting the Criminal Investigation Division and the Gang Tactical Unit, special patrolling to target specific crimes or crime areas, conducting community-oriented policing projects such as bike patrol, and providing selective traffic enforcement to reduce the number and severity of traffic accidents.

Criminal Investigation Division

The Criminal Investigation Division is primarily comprised of a Sergeant, four Detectives, and one Criminalist. They investigate criminal acts committed in or affecting the City of Stafford. This Division also works with other law enforcement agencies and the District Attorney's office in Harris and Fort Bend Counties.

This Division is a general assignment unit, with attention given to the individual expertise of the detective and current workload. The Division is also responsible for collecting and protecting evidence and upholding search and seizure requirements.

In addition, one Corporal is assigned to the Tri-City Gang Tactical Task Force, and one Corporal and two officers are assigned to specifically target gang activity, violent or recurring crimes, and other public concerns.
