Dulles Avenue Construction Project
PROJECT: Dulles Avenue Upgrade Project – C.I.P. No ST0801

NOTIFICATION: Traffic Control Phase 2 Construction – Traffic Switch and Intersection Improvements – UPDATE, 3/20/2012
Starting Wednesday evening, at 7pm, March 28, 2012, the northbound and southbound traffic will be switched to the newly constructed pavement on the west side of Dulles Avenue (weather permitting).
Beginning at 90A through south of Avenue E, traffic will be traveling on the southbound main lanes for the duration of the reconstruction. Minor transitions to accommodate driveway opening and intersection improvements will take place as needed.
INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS:
Dulles Ave/Lexington Blvd Intersection -
The medians at the intersection of Dulles Avenue/Lexington Blvd will be reconstructed to include an additional left turn lane eastbound and westbound. Lane transitions will begin south of Lexington Blvd and will be reduced to one lane heading northbound.
Motorists traveling southbound will be reduced to one lane beginning at 90A and will remain one lane in the southbound direction until Lexington Blvd.
Cartwright Road -
The median north of the Dulles Avenue/Cartwright Rd intersection will be reconstructed to include an additional left turn lane eastbound. There will be a short lane transition beginning south of the intersection.
All necessary public services such as Fire, Police, Post Office, and Sanitation pickup have been notified of the closure in order to ensure no impact of services to the residents.
All motorists are expected to follow the construction signs at all times and are encouraged to seek an alternate route until construction is complete. City staff will provide updates as the construction continues.
