Building Permits
The City's Building Permit Department is responsible for issuing construction
permits and ensuring compliance with all applicable building codes and ordinances.

Code Enforcement
The Building Permit Department is responsible for code enforcement to protect property valuations and to improve the overall quality of life for the citizens of Stafford.
In February of 2001, City Council adopted enhanced building standards for the city which, most notably, eliminate metal exteriors on new commercial buildings and specify acceptable and unacceptable exterior wall finishes for all buildings in the City. These standards will be posted on the web site soon. Currently, copies are available at City Hall for a minimum copy charge.
Zoning
Zoning is necessary to accommodate a mixture of new commercial and residential
development that will strengthen the City's existing dynamic character of diverse
land uses. The City has seven designated zones for development:
- Single Family Residential
- Multi-Family Residential
- Arts and Education
- Mixed Use
- Mixed Use 1
- Light Industrial
- Residential, Commercial & Technology
Click here to go to the City Code of Ordinances for more Zoning information. For Building Code questions, contact Irby Rico, Senior Building Code Inspector at
281-261-3943 or Gene Bane at 281-261-3946.
Health Department
Food permits are necessary to protect the public health by establishing and enforcing requirements for food service operations. The City's Health Inspector makes on-site inspections on a rotation basis and by report/request.

Nuisance Abatement
The abatement of nuisances such as high grass and weeds, substandard buildings,
trash and debris, junk vehicles, signs in disrepair, etc. is a primary goal
of the City in protecting the health and welfare of its citizens and to also
make the city more aesthetically pleasing. Contact Marcia Fouts, Health Inspector/Nuisance Abatement Inspector at
281-261-3941 for more information.
