Economic Development
For the last four decades, and before it was fashionable in many areas of the Texas Gulf Coast, Stafford was promoting economic development.
The City has gained recognition for cultivating one of the strongest, most diverse economies per capita in the State. The Stafford Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) was created in 1999 to promote and expand commerce in the City and to finance economic development projects of public purpose which are approved by City Council.
Past projects have included the construction of the Stafford Centre and the expansion and modernizing of U.S. 90A, with the additions of a Quiet Zone containing wayside horns on the rail lines along U.S. 90A.
